EnVision LCM
A bigger home for bigger wonder
the museum
The Lexington Children’s Museum (LCM) is the only children’s museum in the Commonwealth, serving as a regional destination for hands-on learning and family engagement since 1990.
Through 10 discovery zones, field trips, outreach programs, and accessible initiatives, LCM reaches families and students across Kentucky.
Today, 50,000 visitors engage with the museum each year, with more than half traveling from outside Lexington, and 74 percent of education programming serving communities beyond Fayette County.
This broad reach positions LCM as a critical resource for early learning, workforce readiness, and family connection across the region.
the need
Demand for LCM’s programs continues to accelerate.
Attendance has increased 45 percent over the past five years, and more than 21,000 students have been served through education programming in the last three years alone, including significant growth in field trips and statewide participation.
Exhibit expansion, visitor capacity, and the overall experience for families and school groups are all limited by the current facility’s:

the vision
LCM now stands at a defining moment.
With plans for a new, purpose-built museum in downtown Lexington, the organization has the opportunity to create a transformational, immersive learning environment designed for future generations.
The new museum will:
- Expand accessibility on a regional scale
- Increase annual visitation to more than 125,000 guests
- Generate over $12 million in annual economic impact
- Position downtown Lexington as a statewide destination for families
