Enjoy a trip down the Kentucky River! Discover the power of hydroelectricity, nocturnal animals, minerals in a make believe cave, and groom and "ride" life size horses!

Healthy Me Gallery

Look in the giant mouth and see many teeth. Do you know what’s hidden below your gumline? Check out the giant brain to learn about what different parts of your brain control.

Lexington Children's Way

Kids can take on the role of many different professions in this gallery including banking, caring for animals, being a judge - even milk a cow and take vegetables to the market!

Wonder Woods

Dedicated for children ages 3 and under, explore inside the tree house and have some quiet reading time or play in the kitchen. You won’t want to miss the tiny tot fountain!

Physics and Space

Learn about gravity, momentum, and even fly an F-16! Don’t forget to take your picture walking on the moon! Place a scarf in the zoom tubes or create a masterpiece using the giant light bright.

Small World & Bone Zone

Wave hello to the goliath bird-eating tarantula, Hercules! Dig through the past in the Dino Dig and create your very own dinosaur skeleton! Bone Zone is sponsored by G and J Pepsi.

Bubble Zone

Discover the science of bubbles by going inside of one! You can also create a bubble wall, or blow countless bubbles from our soapy well!

Homes Around the World

Take a trip to four countries around the world in minutes! This exhibit is the perfect backdrop for dramatic play in one of the four homes: Samoan fale, American adobe, Mauritanian mud brick, and Turkish nomadic! After exploring you can build your very own home!

Art Room

The Art Room offers all sorts of materials to make your own creations! This area is open all weekend and weekdays from 1:00 – 5:00. If there is no field trip, this room is open all day on weekdays.

  • $10 – Ages 2 and older

  • $8 – 65+ and teachers

  • $3Museums For All admission for each family member (up to 4 people) with presentation of SNAP or WIC Card.

  • $9 – Field trip rate with enrichment program. Learn more about field trips (Special pricing available for Title I Schools)

  • $7 – Group visit rate for large groups. For reservations, call 859-258-3253 (notification required at least 24-hours in advance).

Parking is available at metered spaces on Short St. and Algonquin St., and at the Victorian Square Garage at 350 W. Short St. on the corner of Broadway and Short. St.

The chart below reflects field trips for groups of 50 or more for the current week. Most field trips begin at 10:00 and end by 1:00. Field Trips are structured to reduce congestion throughout the museum.
